globalEPR.ai is software-only — you bring your own EU Authorised Representative (AR), add their details once, and they auto-fill onto your Declarations of Conformity and compliance documents. If you don't have an AR yet, this guide helps you pick the right provider.
Under the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2025/40) and member-state EPR schemes, non-EU sellers generally must appoint an EU-established Authorised Representative before placing packaging on that market. The AR is your legal point of contact for the authorities and helps handle registration and compliance obligations.
AR services fall into a few broad categories. Costs are typical ranges for guidance only — actual pricing depends on the number of countries, product categories and scope of service, so always confirm with the provider.
| Provider type | Typical yearly cost | Coverage | Best for | Watch-outs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dedicated AR specialists | ~€300–800 per country | Single or a few member states | Sellers in a few countries who want transparent pricing | Costs add up fast across many countries |
| Full-service compliance firms | ~€1,500–5,000+ per year | Multi-country, incl. EPR registration & filing | Sellers wanting end-to-end handling across markets | Often bundled — watch for items you don't need |
| Marketplace-bundled AR | Per month or per volume | Depends on the platform | Sellers mostly on one marketplace | Locked to that platform; hard to move or own |
| Law firms / legal advisers | Hourly or bespoke | Bespoke | Complex cases needing legal opinion | Highest unit cost; overkill for routine compliance |
How globalEPR.ai fits in: whichever AR you choose, add their details to the platform once and they auto-fill onto your Declarations of Conformity and compliance documents — no re-keying, fewer errors.
