EPR-Nummer (EPR registration number): Each producer registered in an EU Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme receives a unique registration number. In Germany, the LUCID Verpackungsregister assigns numbers in the format DE + 11 digits.

LUCID-Nummer prüfen (Check LUCID number): The LUCID public register at lucid.verpackungsregister.org lets anyone look up whether a number is registered. This tool first validates the format before you visit the register.

Verpackungsregister (Packaging Register): Germany's official EPR register for packaging (§ 9 VerpackG). Producers must register before placing packaging on the German market. Similar registers exist in every EU member state.

EPR-Pflicht (EPR obligation): The legal obligation for producers, importers, or online marketplace sellers to register with a national EPR scheme and report packaging quantities placed on the market.

Systembetreiber (Scheme operator / PRO): The organisation that operates the national EPR scheme — e.g. LUCID/Stiftung EAR in Germany, Citeo in France, CONAI in Italy, Ecoembes in Spain.

What is the format of a LUCID registration number?
German LUCID packaging registration numbers follow the format DE + 11 digits (e.g. DE1234567890123). WEEE/EAR numbers for electrical equipment follow a different format: WEEE-Reg.-Nr. DE + 8 digits. Both can be validated here.
Can this tool confirm whether an EPR registration is active?
No. This tool validates only whether a number matches the format convention for a given jurisdiction. It cannot confirm whether the registration is active, valid, or who holds it. For that, you must query the official register (LUCID, ADEME, BDO, etc.) directly.
Do cross-border e-commerce sellers need separate registration in each country?
