When Prop 65 applies

California's Proposition 65 (also written Prop 65, Prop65 or CA65) requires a warning if a product can expose consumers to listed chemicals. The module activates when you record US sales — no US sales, no assessment needed.

The automatic screening

Open Prop 65 from the sidebar. Each SKU is screened against the chemical list based on its materials and category, producing a status:

  • No listed chemicals expected — no action needed, keep records.
  • Possible exposure — review the flagged chemicals; consider testing or supplier declarations.
  • Warning recommended — add the short-form or full Prop 65 warning to the product and listing.

A human decision always wins: once you set a status manually, the automatic scan will never downgrade it.

Choosing label chemicals

If a warning is needed, pick the specific chemical(s) to name in the warning from the per-SKU chemical picker. Flagged chemicals are pre-suggested; your picks are kept separately from the assessment.

Evidence

Attach test reports or supplier declarations to the SKU or supplier so your assessment is defensible. Typed substance test results from supplier documents flow into the assessment automatically.
