How to add packaging types and check empty space (Art. 24)

Add a packaging type

1. Open Packaging Types from the sidebar.
2. Click Add and describe the design: components, materials, weights, recycled-content %, and recyclability grade.
3. Save. Each packaging type needs its own Declaration of Conformity later.

Empty space ratio (PPWR Art. 24)

The app automatically calculates empty space from the outer volume versus the product volume — you do not enter it by hand. PPWR Art. 24 limits empty space to 50% for grouped, transport and e-commerce packaging from 1 January 2030; primary sales packaging is exempt.

Any packaging over the limit is flagged with a warning in the list and on the dashboard. To reduce empty space, use smaller boxes, form-fitted inserts, or remove unnecessary void fill.
